This picture just got a whole new meaning.

Following Eidos’ announcement that the 1.5 million unit-sales of Tomb Raider Underworld were below forecasts, Kotaku is reporting that 30 Crystal Dynamics employees have been laid off to “to eliminate redundancy and give the studio tighter focus moving forward.” Eidos still appears to be looking forward, however, as chief financial officer Robert Brent tells Times Online of the company’s plans of “revising the look and play of Tomb Raider.” Brent puts it this way:

We need to look at everything, as we develop the next game. Look at how Batman changed succesfully, from the rather sad character of the Michael Keaton era to the noir style of The Dark Knight.

Question is, after the less than stellar performance of Underworld, are the rest of the world still looking forward to anything at all — have they even been?
