“Angie isn’t a fan of the Transformers films and believes Megan won’t do the Lara Croft character justice. She’s also annoyed because she thinks Megan copies everything from her, from her tattoos to her style,” said a source close to the actress.
Oddly enough, Megan Fox has recently spoken about the issue (yet again) at a Beverly Hills press con for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, merely echoing what she said in May: “I think that’s a role that Angelina Jolie mastered, and I would never attempt to take that over from her.”
Case closed? You bet. Let’s keep those claws in check, Angie.

Megan Fox is frightened of Angelina Jolie. “I haven’t had the opportunity to meet her and I try to avoid that because I’m afraid.” The question, however, is why? “Angelina’s a powerful person and I bet she would eat me alive. I guess that is why I’m afraid of her.”
Would she eat her alive if she took on her previous film roles? The Transformers star is sharing that “there have been a lot of films I’ve had to pass on because I don’t want people thinking I’m trying to emulate her.”
Now, we’ve no clue as to what exactly those films are, but we’ve reason to believe that the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot from Warner Bros. could have been one of them. Taking on the ‘Raider films is one of the turning points in Angelina’s career, and what other Jolie role but Lara Croft could be more identifiably Jolie?
While Megan has officially denied her involvement in the film in January, her camp refused to comment when asked whether the actress would accept the Lara Croft role in case it was offered or not. But if the Tomb Raider reboot was indeed one of the films she turned down because of her Joliephobia (provided it was offered), then perhaps we can strike out Megan Fox for good as the next Lara Croft.
Definitely more on the Hollywood reboot as it develops, if it does, which it will.
Megan Fox keeps mum on possible Lara Croft offer January 31, 2009Posted by tombraiderfanboy in Hollywood, Lara Croft, Tomb Raider 3 (Film).

Despite earlier reports of Megan Fox’s reps denying any involvement of the actress in Warner’s Tomb Raider reboot, it seems we can’t strike out the Transformers star as Angelina’s replacement just yet. According to this E! Online piece, Megan’s camp refused to comment when asked whether the actress would accept the Lara Croft role if offered or not. And what a wise choice that was.
A premature “no” to an offer to play Lara Croft would be like — in the words of E! — “blowing a friggin’ cash cow” for Fox. Being a potential heiress to the role that catapulted Angelina to international fame would no doubt do wonders for Megan’s career. E! is also saying that the “sexier, sultrier mini-Jolie” is like getting Angelina “for one-sixth the price,” so it would make sense if WB wanted Fox to don Lara’s figure-hugging tomb-raiding outfit.
More on this as it develops, if it does.
Megan Fox rumored to be the next Lara Croft January 21, 2009Posted by tombraiderfanboy in Hollywood, Tomb Raider 3 (Film).

You’ve probably picked this up by now, but word is Megan Fox will be the replacement of Angelina for the next Tomb Raider film; that is, if it will even push through. Apparently, nobody has signed as of yet. No surprise there. More on this as it develops, if it does.
Lara Croft hailed as Top Badass Woman (of Movies) January 16, 2009Posted by tombraiderfanboy in Hollywood, Lara Croft.

MTV.com has figured that their search for the “Greatest Badasses of All Time” has become too much of a sausagefest, prompting them to make a list of their “Top Badass Women [of Movies],” and — surprise, surprise — Lara makes the list. Who saw that coming?
From the “Tomb Raider” movies to “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” to last year’s hit “Wanted,” Jolie is building a body count nearly as high as her number of children. If you ever see Brad in public with a black eye, it seems safe to assume that somebody forgot to take out the trash.
Other female badasses who made it to the list Alice of the Resident Evil series of movies, Trinity of the Matrix series, and Selene of Underworld. Make the MTV jump to see the full list.

If the last two Tomb Raider movies have moved you to feel or think that only Angelina Jolie can be Lara Croft, then you might be worrying that when Angelina’s way beyond her gun-totting-capable age, she will no longer be able to keep up with Lara’ being the forever young Bondesque lass that she is.
Well, Silicon Valley‘s offering Hollywood a “big assist” to solve the problem.
Mercury News is offering a prospective look at chips that can help surpass the visual fidelity of Angelina’s computer-generated portrayal of Grendel’s mother in Beowulf, and we quote:
Aided by increasingly powerful microprocessors and incredibly sophisticated software, movie makers and video game developers are getting closer to achieving the holy grail of animation: creating computer-generated actors that are visually indistinguishable from real people. Consider it Hollywood’s most special effect.
And experts say that could bring revolutionary changes for film lovers and game players. Stars could keep playing inconic roles even as they aged past the point of believabillity, like Jolie as Croft or Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. At the same time, video games could look more realistic — in fact, more like movies themselves.
Can’t say we’re not excited to see a CG Angelina beating up Simon again on the big screen. More through the MN jump.

Now we just can’t help but wonder what 2009 will have in store for us.
Will Eidos eventually get taken over by Warner Bros.? Will we be hearing an announcement of the ninth ‘Raider title and its rumored multiplayer feature soon? Will Alison Carroll be around to promote Tomb Raider 9 or will we get a new real-life Lara? How about a brand new Tomb Raider movie — that’s not entirely impossible, is it? (No Debra Messing, please; we still love Angelina.)
What we know for sure though is that we will be getting more of Underworld through the upcoming DLC for 360. Beneath the Ashes will be making an appearance in the coming weeks, Eidos assures us, with Lara’s Shadow next in line in the months to come. To those, we’re definitely looking forward.
From Tomb Raider Fanboy, Happy New Year!
