Eidos: “We are now open for buyout” January 16, 2009

Eidos has confirmed that it has “received a preliminary approach which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the Company.” The ailing Tomb Raider-publisher emphasizes, however, that “discussions are at a very early stage and that there can be no assurance that an offer will be forthcoming.”

In 2008, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Square Enix, and Warner Bros. have been linked to Eidos as potential bidders for takeover. Of the four, however, only Warner Bros. has made significant moves to acquire the company, for better or for worse.

But, hey, as things are now, it can only get better. Hopeful, we are.
